Unprofessional Development Case Study
The Competitive Businessman
Peter Salt, an employee of Parable Business Companies Limited, was a newly hired clerk who wanted to climb the corporate ladder as quickly as possible. He began by undermining the creditability of his division commander, Paul Pepper. Salt would just barely fail to complete his assignments, and blame it on Pepper's "sketchy assignment details". Every time Salt seemed to be caught performing his duties inadequately, he would find an ingenious way to blame it on Pepper, and rumors began to circulate among the employees that Salt might be getting Pepper's job. One day, Pepper saw Salt walking down the halls, and took him aside. "Salt," He said, "Your behavior is very ambitious, but I'm concerned about the ethicality of what you're doing. It is wrong to slander someone for the purpose of personal gain." Salt responded by telling Pepper that he would slander whomever he pleased to further his career, and the heck with everybody. So Pepper killed him with his staple remover. Unfortunately, he was later caught trying to ditch Salt's body in a local ravine, and was sentenced to twenty five years in federal prison for littering.
Moral of the story: Respect the environment.
