Peter Pauper was in deep financial trouble. He was buried in outstanding debt, lived in a squalid apartment, and just two weeks ago had lost his job. Pauper's landlord was threatening to evict him if he didn't pay his rent in just one week, and he was thinking of taking his life. Fortunately, that very day, his childhood friend Rex King paid him a visit. King told him of a widget business he was planning to build, where customers could order custom widgets online and have them delivered to their homes. King predicted that the business would be a huge success, and offered Pauper a third of all his profits if he would work for King as the company clerk. King promised that Pauper's duties would only consist of processing incoming order forms, so with nothing to lose, Pauper agreed to join. Two weeks later, the company was a smash hit! Order forms were pouring in by the millions, as hordes of eager customers sent in for their custom widgets. Pauper and King stood to make millions! King excitedly rushed down to the mail room to bring Pauper the news, but Pauper was nowhere to be found. After a brief search, King found Pauper's body, crushed under an enormous pile of filed order forms.

Moral of the story: Life isn't fair.
